1 new Covid-19 case have been reported in the past 24-hours, along with 9 recoveries, Superintendent of Public Health Charmaine Gauci said today.
120 cases are currently active, 485 patients have recovered and there has been 6 deaths. There were 803 tests taken in the past 24-hours, with the total so far at 61,615.
She said that of the confirmed cases reported since Friday, 4 were asymptomatic. Contact tracing is being carried out.
Gauci went on to say that the Authorities “are still not in a position to say that Malta is completely rid of the Coronavirus, with these asymptomatic cases it means there is still a spread in the community.”
She explained that there are currently 22 patients in hospital; 11 at Boffa, 7 at St Thomas and 4 at Mater Dei.
Prof Gauci, answering questions from journalists, said that they are in consultation with the Education Ministry regarding the opening of childcare centres and that discussions are also taking place on opening Malta International Airport.
