The validity period of compliance certificates which expired or are about to expire in the coming days, is to be extended, the Planning Authority said this evening.
In a statement, the Authority explained this measure has been taken after a number of valid compliance certificates could not be utilised in view of the restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic situation, and therefore expired or are about to expire.
Following a specific request which needs to be made by the perit on behalf of the applicant, the Authority said that compliance certificates having a validity period expiring between the 15th March 2020 and the 15th June 2020 (and which still need to be utilised) can have their validity period extended.
The request for extension must be submitted to the Planning Authority before the 30th June 2020 by sending an email to customercare@pa.org.mt and quoting the specific CMP number.
It will then be re-issued with a validity period of another 3 months. The Authority said that late requests will not be considered.
A compliance certificate has a validity period of 3 months. The compliance certificate is a confirmation that a development is according to the planning permission and it is required when applying for water and electricity services.
In 2019, the PA said that it received a record number of 10,442 requests for the issue of compliance certificates, which represents an increase of circa 15% over the previous year.
