There is now the opportunity for a number of Gozitan and Maltese cribs to be exhibited in Washington DC later this year.
The cribs will be exhibited in the internationally renowned Museum of the Bible in Washington DC, between November and January 2021, with the eventuality that the crib that places first will have the honour of remaining on display forever inside the same museum.
The announcement was made by the Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government. It explained that the Directorate of Culture has in recent months been in negotiations with the Museum and an agreement was reached to enable the exhibition to take place.
A competition will be launched by the Directorate in order to select no more than ten Gozitan and Maltese cribs, with the aim of giving the local crib-artists further international recognition for their skills.
Cribs entering this competition must be ready and delivered to the place indicated by the Directorate of Culture by Tuesday, the 15th of September.
The Ministry has also reached an agreement so that one crib-artist for each selected crib will have the trip between Malta-Washington-Malta paid on an Economy Class basis.
Those interested in participating can write to emanuel.e.vella@gov.mt until the 31st of July. On Sunday, the 2nd of August at 10.00am, an information meeting will be held for all those interested in participating in this exhibition.
Full details and information on the competition are available by clicking here.
The venue where the meeting will take place will be communicated to those who contact the Directorate of Culture. All interested parties are encouraged to attend this meeting.
