The four large international music festivals, that had been expected to attract thousands from many different countries during August and September, have been cancelled by the organisers.

The BPM Festival, Escape 2 the Island, Rhythm and Waves and the Mi Casa Festival, were the four events, and organisers made the announcement on social media for each event earlier this evening, saying “after close conversations with the Maltese Tourism Authority, we have been informed that due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in Malta, we can no longer go ahead with the festival this year.”International music festivals cancelled because of increase in Covid-19 casesFestival goers who had booked tickets, would received a full refund within the next 30 working days, organisers said.

However, from comments on the BPM Festival facebook page, the majority were in agreement, in fact, they were surprised that it had been organised at all because of the current pandemic.
