There have been 20 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the past 24-hours, health authorities have said, meaning there are now 249 active cases, there were 2 new recoveries.

Of today’s cases 5 form part of the Paceville cluster, 4 are related to previously known cases, while the rest are sporadic. Authorities said that “the majority of the sporadic cases did not have contact with people while symptomatic.”

The authorities explained that the number of active cases – which has risen to 249 – includes 16 positive cases reported yesterday, 3 of them are from the 78 migrants who disembarked in Malta on Tuesday, while the other 13 are from previous disembarkations, they were not however, included in today’s new cases.

This means that there are 926 cases, 668 have recovered and there have been 9 deaths.

1,839 swab tests were taken over the past 24-hours, with 134,944 swabs taken since the start.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All 3 swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made.
