26 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 53 recoveries, health authorities advised that today’s new cases are still being investigated.

From yesterday’s 21 cases, authorities said that 4 were family members of previously known cases, 1 was a work colleague of a positive case and 2 were contacts from social gatherings, with 14 “sporadic cases.”

1,916 swab tests were taken during this time period, with 192,509 having been taken since the start.

There are now 444 active cases, with 1,909 cases in total. 1,453 have recovered and there have been 12 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has not as yet updated their figures, so still showing that for Malta, the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 94.6 It is showing the total number of cases as 1,862. Malta is still in second position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 205.5.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
