22 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the past 24-hours, with 37 recoveries, health authorities advised that once again, today’s new cases are still being investigated.

From yesterday’s 21 cases, authorities said that 6 were family members of previously known cases, 3 were work colleagues of positive cases and 1 was a contact from social gatherings, 1 was a direct contact of a positive case and 1 was imported. No details were given for the remaining 9 cases.

2,067 swab tests were taken during this time period, with 194,576 having been taken since the start.

There are now 428 active cases, with 1,931 cases in total. 1,490 have recovered and there have been 13 deaths.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control up to 10am this morning is showing that for Malta, but not including today’s figures the 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is 86.5 with the number of cases as 1,909. Malta is now in fourth position in the EU/EEA and UK. Spain is at the top with 227.5, followed by France with 96.6 and then Croatia with 87.3.

Public Health Authorities said that anyone who needs to take a test should call 111 to set an appointment, even if they do not have any symptoms. It is to be noted that due to the large volume of calls, it can take some time to get through.

All swabbing centres are open every day, including the one in Gozo, however appointments must be made on the above number.
