Public seminar on Goziton childrens issuesThe Office of the Commissioner for Children cordially invites members of the public to a Seminar in order to discuss matters requiring urgent attention with regards to children in Gozo.

This seminar will cover topics relating to Poverty and Social Exclusion, Children in Conflict with the Law, Children and the Law, Education, Health, Work, Sport, Culture, and the Environment.

The Manifesto for Children was officially launched by the Commissioner for Children in 2008, in order to increase awareness of improvements to be made in the best interests of the child.

After the publication of the Manifesto, it was felt that public feedback was needed on the topics put forward, in order for the work of the Commissioner to be informed by the public.

Following this public discussion, the Commissioner for Children will publish a follow-up document in order to present the comments and suggestions of the public to the relevant authorities, and lobby for improvements in this sector.

The Seminar will be held on Thursday 30th April 2009, at the Grand Hotel in Mgarr, Gozo. There is limited seating for this event, therefore space will be allotted on a first come first served basis.

Interested attendees must contact Ms. Sharon Attard at the Office of the Commissioner for Children on 21 485180 or via email Sharon.a.attard@gov.mt by no later than Wednesday 22nd April 2009 in order to register for the conference and workshops.
