Police have said that a 35-year old woman and a 5-year old boy have been hospitalised following an accident in Zebbug, Gozo.

The accident happened at around 8.00am in Triq l-Imghallem. Police said that initial investigations show that the woman lost control of her Toyota Vitz car which then ended up in a field below the level of the road.

Members of the Civil Protection assisted on site, the victims were given medical assistance on the scene by a medical team and then transferred to the Gozo General Hospital.

The woman sustained serious injuries, while the boy was slightly injured.

Police investigations are ongoing.
