Maltese Youths are to unite in centre stage to recommend global solutions for 1.2 billion youths across 54 different countries that will be celebrating Commonwealth Day on Monday.
Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration observed by people all over the Commonwealth in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific and Europe.
Malta will take part in the commemoration of the unifying principles upheld by the Commonwealth Charter signed in 2013.
This year also serves as a platform for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) to be held in Kigali, Rwanda – also held in Malta in 2005 and 2015. This year’s theme will be Delivering a Common Future.
KNZ Malta said that Covid-19 highlighted the disparity of how social-economic factors impacted youths in different ways across different countries, thus Maltese Youths joined together to ensure that European youth voice is apprehended through Commonwealth platforms.
These recommendations on pertinent topics interlink with the themes to be discussed at the Commonwealth Youth Forum as part of CHOGM such as Climate Change, Sustainable Urbanisation, Youth Development & Youth Leadership.
KNZ explained that it ensures that all Commonwealth Youths have an equal opportunity and space towards a future that respects their wishes and aspirations.
KNZ concluded by saying that “such recommendations are to be presented to the Commonwealth Secretariat, Minister for Foreign Affairs Evarist Bartolo, Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition and National Youth Agency of Malta, with the aim to foster dialogue and showcase that through collaboration between Maltese youths and policy stakeholders, together we can unite to contribute to the constantly shifting global challenges.”
Information Session will be held to share Commonwealth opportunities for Maltese youth. RSVP Link- http://bit.ly/CommonwealthMalta
