Government not providing information on permanent link - PNAccessibility between the islands was discussed during this week’s meeting of the Standing Committee on Gozo Affairs.

Opposition Spokesperson for Gozo Chris Said, who is also a member of the Committee, said that there was an opportunity to ask several questions about the permanent link. “It is clear that the Government is not providing any information and no consultation is taking place.”

The Opposition reiterated that the Government should provide all information in a way that the public can understand, all studies should be carried out by experts and that there should be a broad consultation before the final decision is taken.

Dr Said argued that, “in the case of the fast ferry the Government has done nothing in eight years and is now rushing to start this service without any concrete plans.”

The PN members of the Committee also called for the request of the Gozitan Mayors to discuss the “unbridled development in Gozo” to be placed on the Committee’s agenda in the short term.

Dr Said concluded by saying that, “there is no doubt that this Parliamentary Committee, set up following my motion, is beginning to be effective.”
