82 new Covid-19 cases and 71 recoveries , 37 are in hospital, with 1 in ITU82 new Covid-19 cases have been found overnight from the 3,192 swab tests taken, making a positivity rate of 2.57%.

A total of 37 Covid positive patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, down from 41 yesterday. 1 of these patients is in the ITU, down from 3 yesterday.

There have been 71 recoveries, taking the number of active cases in Malta and Gozo to 615.

The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in Malta is 35,516 and there have been 34,072 recoveries and 433 deaths.

1,149,398 swab tests have been taken since the start of the pandemic.

The number of vaccines administered is now at 787,194 up until yesterday, meaning that the number of fully vaccinated people has now reached 406,325.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has advised that it will be reporting figures on a weekly basis – every Thursday. As of the 12th of August it shows that the number of cases recorded for Malta is at 34,439 and the number of deaths showing is 428. The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 is down to 207.36 from 354.28 in the previous week. Malta is now the 10th highest in the EU.

The ECDC said that the above data are collected between Monday and Wednesday for the proceeding week.

The Ministry of Health called on the public to continue to follow the preventive measures – This includes wearing of masks, social distancing and hand hygiene.
