Gozo Region records highest number of final deeds of sale – NSO

The latest data from the National Statistics Office show that the number of final deeds of sale relating to residential property amounted to 1,134 in October, this was an increase of 80 deeds when compared to those registered last year.
During this period, the Gozo region recorded the highest number of final deeds of sale, with 162, the NSO said, this was down 10 on the same month last year.
186 promise of sale agreements relating to residential property were registered during the same period in the Gozo region, a decrease of 8 agreements over the same period last year.
This information from the NSO presents provisional data on residential property sale transactions based on the date of registration with the tax authority.
In October, the NSO noted that the number of final deeds of sale relating to residential property amounted to 1,134, a 7.6% increase when compared to those registered a year earlier. The value of these deeds totalled €239.0 million, 19.1% higher than the corresponding value recorded in October 2020.
In the month under review, 1,051, or 92.7%, of these final deeds of sale involved individual buyers (households), with companies accounting for virtually all the rest. The value of the deeds involving individual buyers (households) amounted to €203.6 million, equivalent to 85.2% of the total value, the NSO said.
With regard to the region the property is situated in, the highest numbers of final deeds of sale were recorded in the two regions of in the region of Gozo, and the region of Haz-Zabbar, Ix-Xghajra, Iz-Zejtun, Birzebbuga, Marsaskala and Marsaxlokk, at 162 and 140 respectively.
The lowest numbers of deeds were noted in the region of Il-Birgu, L-Isla, Bormla and Il-Kalkara, and the region of H’Attard, Hal Balzan, L-Iklin and Hal Lija. In these regions, 21 and 35 deeds were recorded respectively, the NSO said.
In October 2021, 1,091 promise of sale agreements relating to residential property were registered in Malta and Gozo, equivalent to a 16.1% decrease over the same period last year.
The NSO noted that Individual potential buyers (households) accounted for 995, or 91.2%, out of the total promise of sale agreements, while the rest mainly involved companies.
The largest numbers of promise of sale agreements corresponded to residential properties situated in the region of Gozo, and the region of Haz-Zabbar, Ix-Xghajra, Iz-Zejtun, Birzebbuga, Marsaskala and Marsaxlokk, totalling 186 and 131 respectively.
The lowest numbers were noted in respect of properties located in the region of Il-Birgu, L-Isla, Bormla and Il-Kalkara, and the region of L-Imdina, Had-Dingli, Ir-Rabat, L-Imtarfa and L-Imgarr. The fi rst-mentioned region accounted for 21 agreements and the second region accounted for 35 agreements.
