Power cuts which started in Victoria early Tuesday morning and lasted throughout the day until around 7.45pm, caused widespread disruption to the residents of Gozo and throughout the business community.

Gozo News itself ground completely to a halt, with no power, telephone or mobile phone, we of course are sorry for any inconvenience caused to our readers by this unavoidable lack of services.

Enemalta have said that although the full cause of the power cuts is still under investigation, a technical fault had developed in a gas turbine at the Marsa Power Station. It added that full power was restored to all areas by 8.50pm.
