530 new Covid-19 cases have been reported overnight, according to details available from the Health Department online.
Three deaths were also registered, but no details are given, meaning that positive cases in Malta and Gozo now number 7,188
There were 2,754 tests taken over the 24 hours, making a positivity rate of 19.24%.
In a statement this morning, nurses union, the MUMN, warned that the situation at Mater Dei Hospital is “desperate.”
“Contrary to what has been stated by the Health Minister, MDH is in severe crisis with Covid patients being spread in all wards,” the union said. “There is a shortage of nurses and a huge influx of Covid cases at the hospital.”
The union warned that “MDH has more than 150 Covid patients spread in all wards posing a high risk of cross infection among the whole hospital.”
Health Minister Chris Fearne advised this morning that further restrictions would be relaxed from Sunday, with feasts etc able to start, stressing that ITU cases had remained low.
