A number of activities to be staged in Gozo this month as part of the Gozitan cultural calendar have been announced by Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri.

The Minister said that, “In Gozo, we are thinking of organising events not only in the summer months but throughout the year. Some are new and others have now made their place in the Gozitan cultural calendar.”

The activities open tomorrow, Friday, the 2nd, in Qala Square where a House of Blues music evening will be staged, September the 9th and 10th will see Gozo’s first music festival spread over two days – the Levant Gozo Music Fest, more details about which will be announced in the coming days.

On the 11th, L-Ghaqda Nar u Armar 13 ta’ Dicembru of Santa Lucija will organise Family Funderland, with activities for the whole family especially for children. On the 12th of September Mgarr Marina will host the 7th edition of Stage and Proms on the Sea, a spectacular concert by The Gozo Wind Band.

On the 16th the Fontana Wine Festival organised by the Fontana Youth Commission will take place, while on the 17th there will be the Wine, Olive Oil and Honey Festival organised by the Ghasri Local Council.

The Qala Local Council will stage the Qala International Folk Fest between the 16th and 18th in St Joseph Square, Qala. Then on the 22nd in St Francis Square, Victoria, the public will have the opportunity to enjoy a nostalgic musical journey, with Maltese and foreign songs from the seventies up to present day, with the participation of Gozitan singers.

The Gozo Ministry thanked the Cultural Heritage Directorate for the organisation of these activities. He concluded by saying that “the financial aid provided by the government serves to strengthen the cultural calendar with more activities which attract Maltese and tourists to Gozo throughout the year.”
