Gozitan athletes have been honoured in this year’s Gozo Sports Awards for their commitments and achievements within their sports discipline.

The event was organised by the Gozo Sports Board in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo and was held in the Citadel ditch.

Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri presented the awards and congratulated not only the winners who were recognised by an independent board, but also all the nominees whose efforts were noticed, he said, while wishing them all the best for the future.

The Minister said that that “this also bodes well for all the athletes as Gozo will be taking part in the Islands Games that will be organised in Guernsey next year. I am convinced that the athletes who will represent us will do us honour.”

The award winners are as follows:

Official Of The Year – Winner: Dr. Enzo Dimech

Team Of The Year – Winner: Ghajnsielem Redcoats Women’s Softball Team

Coach of the Year – Winner: John Borg

Recognition for an Active Athlete over 45 years of age – Winner: Raymond Camilleri

Recognition for a Sporting Career – Winner: Teddy Bajada

Special Recognition Special Olympics – Winner: Maria Pia Saliba

Promising Female Youth – Winner: Hailey Ballucci

Promising Male Youth – Winner: David Borg

Sportsman of The Year – Winner: David Borg

Sportswoman of The Year Winner: Michelle Dimech.
