According to data provided by Jobsplus for September, the number of persons registering for work in Gozo stood at 66, down by 60 compared to September 2021, when the figure stood at 126.

Of the 66 registering for work in Gozo, 42 were male and 24 were female. Unemployment levels decreased in all age groups for both males and females, the National Statistics Office said.

On a national basis during the same month, the number of persons registering for work stood at 955 decreasing by 397 when compared to 2021.

The data also indicates a year-on-year decrease of 389 persons registering under Part I, and an additional drop of 8 persons registering under Part II of the unemployment register.

Again on a national basis, registered unemployment levels decreased across all age groups for both males and females. Males accounted for 70.8% of total registrants while females accounted for the remaining 29.2%.

Persons who had been registering for work for less than 21 weeks and those who had been registering between 21 and 52 weeks decreased when compared to the same month in 2021. A higher drop was recorded among those persons who were registering for work for more than one year.

The NSO noted that, in September 2022, the number of persons with a disability who were registering for work decreased by 41 when compared to the previous year, reaching 221 persons. Males accounted for 77.4% of total registrants with a disability.

The largest share of males and females on the unemployment register sought occupations as Clerical support workers, with 21.0% and 41.2% respectively.
