The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is returning to the Astra Theatre in Victoria with Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan, with – Rachmaninoff 2.
Scored for strings and bell, Arvo Pärt’s Cantus in the memory of Benjamin Britten encapsulates tranquil minimalistic sounds reflecting Britten’s musical purity.
Renowned cellist Camille Thomas interprets Elgar’s Cello Concerto, his last completed masterpiece and one of the most popular in the instrument’s repertoire.
The evening closes with Rachmaninoff’s dramatic Symphony No. 2, a poignant and deeply evocative work quintessentially late Romantic in emotion and lyricism.
This concert. which is on Saturday, the 19th of November, starting at 7.30pm, is presented with the support of BOV and The Phoenicia Malta and is part of the MPO Membership Scheme.

An exclusive Shuttle Service will be provided for patrons at a nominal fee of €2. The service will run from the Mgarr Ferry Terminal following the arrival of the 6:15pm Gozo Channel ferry.
