The restoration of four statues, which date back to 1771, has now been completed in a project undertaken by the Victoria Local Council.
The statues are situated in St Augustine’s Square on the church parvis. They represent Our Lady Tac-Cintura, St Augustine, St Thomas of Villanova and St Nicholas of Tolentino.
The restoration work was carried out by Rudolph Cauchi under the supervision of Architect Edward Scerri.
The Victoria Local Council project was financed by the Eco-Gozo Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo. The Council said that !it is now the turn of the restoration of the statue San Gorg tal-Hagar, which depicts the “Protector of Gozo” St George, and is situated on the corner of Triq il Librerija and Triq San Gorg.
