The Gozo Regional Development Authority recently participated in the Greening the Islands (GTI) Observatory Summit held in Gran Canaria, Canary Islands.
The GRDA presented – EcoGozo A Better Gozo Prima Med -Wet Project – for the GTI Awards. The project placed first and won the 8th edition of the GTI Awards.
The first place was rewarded with the production of a video to promote the island with special focus to the sustainability aspects.
The GRDA said that it also contributed to the discussion on islands transition to more sustainable forms of energy, the challenges for effective decarbonisation policy, financing methods and sustainable tourism.
The Prima Med-Wet Project – Improving Mediterranean irrigation and Water supply for smallholder farmers by providing Efficient, low-cost and nature-based Technologies and practices (MED-WET) – was developed to ultimately improve the irrigation efficiency of small farmers in the Mediterranean region especially through the optimal use of scarce water resources for lasting food and water security.
