The destruction from storms of an old Gozitan barumbara – as shown in the photos, has been highlighted by the NGO Din L-Art Helwa – Ghawdex.
The NGO stated that this is “another Gozo heritage architecture destroyed because of abandonment and lack of appreciation of Gozitan vernacular architecture.”
Writing on Facebook, DLH-Ghawdex explained that this beautiful centuries-old barumbara was situated in the Belliegha area at the outskirts of Victoria.
“It was already in a bad state and with the last storm. It was completely destroyed except the bottom part of one corner,” the NGO said.
