New fast ferries schedule welcomed by Gozo Business ChamberThe new fast ferry schedule and the Government’s action to charter these trips until there is agreement on a Public Service Obligation with the European Commission, has been welcomed Gozo Business Chamber.

In a statement, the Chamber reiterated that this service is an essential service for all Gozitans, both from an economic and social perspective.

“Gozo is a region with specific difficulties and challenges which need to be addressed. Consequently, having a service which shortens the travel time between the two islands and which is consistent throughout will prove beneficial to all, including Maltese and foreigners travelling to and from Gozo,” the Chamber said.

The Gozo Business Chamber concluded by saying that “from a sustainability perspective the way forward is to increase the use of maritime routes. The route between Valletta and Mgarr is such a route, thus reducing the dependency on car travel between the two islands.”

Now it just needs a bus early enough in the morning to get to the earlier ferry. The current 301 and 323 service should get there in theory but do not give enough time to get a ticket and board!
