New Gozo offices offering services for the elderly in the community

New offices have been opened in Victoria, Gozo to serve the needs of the elderly Gozitans living in the community. The offices are located in the new building of the Elderly Service Center in which several works have been carried out.
Minister for Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela supported the importance of these offices that he said, ensure accessibility to the services offered by Active Ageing and Community Care.
He explained that applications for services requested by the elderly are being processed in these offices. This while an information service is also provided where the elderly can apply for the services they need.
The CEO of AACC Dr. Renzo De Gabriele explained that the services that are offered for the elderly Gozitans from Dar Padova in Ghajnsielem, are: phlebotomy service (blood drawing); home nursing and carer service; continence service (in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo), interventions by the dementia team, dementia activity centre, vascular clinic, podiatry services, occupational therapy, home dietetic and nutrition service, a night shelter service, a psychotherapy service and the transport service for the elderly known as Silver-T.
Dr. De Gabriele also said that since the number of senior citizens is constantly increasing, Active Ageing and Community Care is committed to increasing its work to improve the quality of life of the elderly.
