Virtu Ferries Gozo has advised that its trip from Gozo to Malta at 4.45pm was aborted just outside Mgarr Harbour, due to an “exhaust problem,” which is said was as a result of “reduced engine air intake.”

Writing on Facebook, the company said that “as a precaution, all passengers on board were evacuated.”

Virtu stated that “there was no fire on board and at no time were passengers in any danger.”

The service is back on schedule and the company apologised for the “inconvenience caused.”
