Bernard Sammut dominated the Gozo Motocross Championship Semi Finals which took place on Sunday at the Ta’ Xhajma Track

In class A, Bernard Sammut was followed closely by current Champion Steve Xuereb. Unfortunately, Mario Cauchi was injured during training on Saturday making it impossible for him to attend the semi-finals.

This championship has been very challenging for both Xuereb and Cauchi as the latter moved his way up to the top ending with just 15 points behind Xuereb.

The incident on Saturday has left the road wide open for Xuereb to become a five-time Gozitan Champion. Meanwhile, David Dimech came in third place.

In Class B, John Attard is on his way to a Championship victory, while Class C was uncertain to the very end as David Mercieca and Matthew Buttigieg competed for podium position. The two riders have a number of points between them, which makes the end of class C still quite uncertain.

As usual, the juniors, Matthias Sultana, Craig Piscopo and Trystn Theuma put on a wonderful display of racing. They were awarded by Alex Debono at Sports Experience, Trophies and awards.

Mr James Camilleri, GMA’s own treasurer, presented the winners with trophies sponsored by his company ClimaServ.

The Grand Finals, organised by the Gozo Motocross Association will take place on the 7th of May crowning of the new Champions for 2023. Races will start at 1pm.
