This morning I walked to a near-by shop. I did not use my electric bike because I was afraid of skidding after the night’s rain.

While I was walking a big white van came by and as the driver got closer to me he slowed down to a snail speed so that he would not splash any water on me off the road. Then he did it again when nearing a lady on the other side of the road and that confirmed that it was intention of the driver to slow down because of us pedestrians.

The lady commented and said to me, “you see how considerate that driver was! If he was local he would have sped up to create a big splash, just for fun.”

As I turned the corner I saw the van parked and with the horn beeping to call potential customers.

I stopped to speak to the driver and found out that he was selling bread from David’s Bakery and that he was from Kerala India. I thanked him for his kind gesture for not splashing water and bought some bread even though I already have enough at home.

On the way back home, the contrary happened; a small white van passed by going as fast as he could splashing me with water and ruined my clean ironed trousers which I had to get off as soon as I got home to wash again.

I took the name of the company written on the van and I will not buy anything again from that store!

I will not mention the name here because it is not fair to give the company a bad name for the negligence of a mad driver. Yet businesses should advise their drivers to be more prudent on the roads for the sake of the company’s good name.
