Volunteers are needed for the turtle nest at Ramla l-Hamra in Gozo till around the 19th of August.
Nature Trust – FEE Malta – Gozo Section explained that shifts are of 3 hours and cover 24 hours running.
Day shifts involve mostly interaction with the public and answering queries they might have. Night shifts involve observation of any predators (ghost crabs, rats, cats etc) and carrying out patrols of the beach at regular intervals in case there’s another nesting turtle.
Anyone wishing to volunteer, should please send an email on turtle.ramla@gmail.com for more information.
The turtle nest was spotted during the morning patrol of the beach earlier this month by volunteers from Nature Trust – Fee Malta, who identified the turtle crawl.
