Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri opened a conference on the project ‘Integrating silver knowledge from agroecology into the VET systems’ (AgroSilver) which was staged on Gozo.

The Agrosilver project aimed to provide new methods and material for the development of the agricultural sector and focused mainly on innovative content and tools to support the agricultural sector in student learning and increase the informative learning content and visuals to help teachers.

Addressing what was the last meeting of the project, Minister Camilleri said that “through the AgroSilver project the partners involved shared the best farming practices and methods that are used in European countries. Therefore we hope that this will be beneficial for our common goals including the challenge of climate change, drought and other challenges that this sector faces.”

The Rural Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo was a beneficiary of the AgroSilver project which focused on the educational, environmental and agricultural sectors that affect the global community in one way or another.

It was explained that this project improved agroecology education and vocational training (VET) training and provided educators with tools to attract farmers to higher levels of education and gain more knowledge.

The videos made have provided very informative content for students, for farming enthusiasts, for the farming sector and for communities even in light of the challenges that this sector is facing, the Minister said.

The project will come to an end at the end of August and the last meeting was held today at the Cittadella, Gozo.
