During a visit to Gozo and Malta this month, the Saint Catherine’s Girls School Bramley Chamber Choir from the UK will be giving three recitals.

St Catherine’s enjoys a strong reputation for the excellence, inclusiveness and variety of its music. All girls are encouraged to get involved, and there are performing opportunities – solo and ensemble – to cater for all abilities and tastes. Academic Music lessons focus on listening and appraising skills as well as composition and performance.

Around 600 individual music lessons are given weekly by a team of over 30 visiting music teachers, and the School provides opportunities for all girls to play and sing in the many choral and instrumental ensembles on offer.

These include nine choirs, the Symphony Orchestra, Camerata (the school’s top string ensemble), String Orchestra, Concert Band, Wind Band, Flute Choir, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Band, Harp Ensemble, Fife & Drum Band, rock bands and numerous chamber groups. Senior Choir, Camerata, Concert Band and Jazz Band also make regular overseas tours.

In Gozo, the choir will give a recital which will be divided in to two sections, both taking place in Ghajnsielem. This will take place on Sunday, the 16th of July.

The first section will take place at St Anthony of Padua Church starting at 6.15pm, while an open air recital will take place at Pjazza Madonna Ta’ Loreto, the Main Square of Ghajnsielem starting at 8.30pm.

In Malta, the choir will be in Valletta to perform a recital at St. Catherine’s Church next to MUZA Museum. The lunchtime concert will take place on Saturday, the 15th of July, at 12.30pm.

The last recital will take place on Monday, the 17th of July, at the Basilica of Christ the King in Paola (Rahal il-Gdid) starting at 6.30pm.

The JP2 Foundation said that admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
