According to data issued by the National Statistics Office for 2022, when compared to the preceding year, the Gozo public libraries at Victoria and Nadur last year continued with their contest for the top spot, with Victoria achieving the position.

The Victoria public library made 29,061 loans and Nadur public library loaned out 17,193 books. Coming in a close third was the Xewkija Public Library with 16,549. All other Gozo libraries were around 6,000 and below.

Branch libraries in Gozo gave out 61,831 book loans during 2022 against 69,513 in 2021. The Gozo Central Public Library loaned out 29,061 books last year, against 19,718 in 2021.
