Following on from last year’s remarkable success, the Frantic Film Challenge is back for its second year and the organisers said that there has been some exciting developments to encourage even more people to take part and get “frantically creative over the course of one weekend.”

The original coordinators, Sean James Sutton and Jayne Giordanella of Ringside Theatre Company, said that they have this year managed to attract the attention of the Malta Film Commission, who are in part backing this event.

This event, which can be partaken by anyone living or visiting Gozo or Malta, will once again tie in with the popular annual Gozitan event the Gozo Film Festival at the Cittadella, Victoria.

“We are delighted that the MFC have acknowledged what a great all-inclusive event this is, in encouraging people to get creative in film making, regardless of their experience,” said Giordanella

She explained that, “we have not only the continued support from the Gozo Film Festival but now also the Malta Film Commission, which has given us the opportunity to offer an extra small incentive this year for participants -prizes.”

The FFC event will be launched online on the 4th of August, whereby registered teams are given their directives for inclusion in their short film.

Immediately afterwards begins the challenge of writing, storyboarding, filming and editing to produce a 6 minute or less short film, but the major challenge is, that it all has to be achieved in just one weekend.

All submissions must be received before the deadline of midnight on Sunday, the 6th of August and winners will be announced at the FFC award ceremony on the 18th of August, with the overall winner being screened at the opening of the Gozo Film Festival on the same night.

Registration closes at end of play on the 3rd of August, so still time to gather a team and enter.
