June’s unemployment rate at 2.6%, youth unemployment up slightly

According to the latest data from the National Statistics Office, in June 2023, the monthly unemployment rate was 2.6%, this was down from the 3.0% registered last year and 2.7% in May.
The unemployment rate during June 2023 for persons aged 15 to 24 years (youth unemployment rate) was 8.7%, down slightly from last year when it was 8.8%, however it is an increase on May when the figure stood at 8.4%.
For June 2023, the unemployment rate for males was 2.8%, down from 3.2% last year and 2.9% in May.
While the rate for females stood at 2.3%, down from 2.8% last year and there is no change from May.
The rate for those aged between 25 and 74 years stood at 2.0%, down from 2.4% last year and 2.1% in May.
