According to the latest data from the National Statistics Office, there were 61 people registering for work in Gozo during June, this was down from 77 in the same month last year and up from 53 in May.

Of the 61 seeking employment, there were 38 males and 23 females. Last year the breakdown was 46 males and 31 females.

The highest age group seeking employment in Gozo were those aged 45 and over, with 24 looking for work – 12 males and 12 females. This was followed by the 30-44 age group, with 22 looking for work – 13 males and 9 females.

On a national level, the NSO noted that the number of registered unemployed in June decreased by 79 persons over last year.

The number of registered persons with a disability decreased by 23 persons over the same period in last year.

Decreases in the registered unemployment levels were recorded in the majority of age groups, excluding the under 20s.

The NSO also noted that clerical support jobs were the most common occupations sought by the registered unemployed.
