The Nationalist Party has reiterated its call for the area of Hondoq ir-Rummien to be given to the public by being elevated to the rank of a national park.

In a statement, the PN said that “what the Government has done in the last hours is only theatrics because the solution it offered is not insurance.”

“The proposal by PN for this area be a national park is a real assurance that the natural environment in Hondoq-ir Rummien will be protected,” it said.

The PN claimed that “according to the present law, already no development could be carried out and this was confirmed by the Courts.”

The Nationalist Party concluded by saying, “the Maltese environment and the Maltese people do not need theatrics and show from Robert Abela’s Government. The environment, the landscape and the people deserve protection to have a better quality of life in our country.”
