The Bloom and Buzz Project has been officially launched by Europe Direct Gozo and GLOBE Malta. Together with students from various Gozitan schools, they’re diving into the importance of the amazing bee – nature’s most essential pollinator.

Europe Direct Gozo’s Manager, Jesmond Buttigieg, shared that this marks the fourth year of collaboration with GLOBE Malta.

“Projects like this empower students and teachers to create pollinator-friendly environments, boosting biodiversity and sustainability across our beautiful island,” he said.

Ramona Mercieca, Deputy Coordinator of GLOBE Malta, outlined this year’s project details with educators, including timelines, documentation, and reporting needs for future analyses. Schools also received Spot the Bee guides and information charts to learn about pollinator impact.

The organisations explained that Xerri’s Garden Centre will play a crucial role as Thomas Xerri will provide guidance to all participating schools on which plants and shrubs to grow to create a thriving, bee-friendly habitat.

Europe Direct Gozo said that it has provided participating school with a complete pollinator kit to bring this project to life.
