Three Gozitan voluntary voluntary organisations are among twenty-seven that will benefit from the Artistic Financing for Feast Associations Scheme administered by Arts Council Malta, through a total allocation of €140,000.

Ghaqda tal-Armar Madonna tas-Sokkors Ta’ Kercem has been awarded €6,000, Ghaqda Armar Xewkija €5,796 and Ghaqda Armar Ghajnsielem €5,629. The funding will be used among others, for artistic decorations within their feasts.

Minister for the National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici, explained that the scheme aims to further foster, safeguard, and strengthen cultural traditions, particularly those relating to artistic decorations in the various Maltese feasts.

Speaking at the presentation of the funds, Minister Owen Bonnici expressed his gratitude towards these associations for their dedicated efforts in creating and designing these artistic decorations which adorn the streets of numerous localities during feast season.

Mary Ann Cauchi, Director Funding and Strategy at the Arts Council Malta, stated that this fund extends support to the numerous organisations across our towns and villages which continue to contribute to traditional Maltese feasts, dedicating their time throughout the year to enhance the artistic aspect of these celebrations.

“This programme ensures that these organisations receive the necessary support to continue advancing their endeavours, whilst also encouraging higher levels of artistic achievement,” remarked Ms Cauchi.

Beneficiaries of this scheme had to be voluntary organisations enrolled with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations and were scrutinised in terms of technical and artistic eligibility by Arts Council Malta; each project was awarded funding on a case-by-case basis.
