Opposition Spokesperson for Gozo Alex Borg, said he has been advised that the call for tenders has been issued to provide an MRI for the Gozo General Hospital.
“This is a good step forward and the Nationalist Party welcome it with satisfaction,” he said.
Alex Borg concluded by saying “the hope is that this project will not take long to be completed so that Gozitans will no longer have to travel to Malta, which is sometimes in the early hours, for this much needed service.”
In June this year, Health Minister Chris Fearne said that preparation work was underway to issue a tender for the MRI machine for Gozo. He was replying to a Parliamentary Question put by PM MP Chis Said.

The sooner the better for this important instrument to be installed in Gozo General Hospital.
This will help the Gozitans from having to travel to Mater Dei Hospital in unhealthy hours such as 3 or 4 o’clock in the mornings for MRI testing.
To be there on time one has also to take consideration the travel time & the Gozo Channel Schedule.
So yes this machinery is very much needed and about time too.
