A month of activities related to the Opera in Gozo, have been announced by Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri.

The month of October has become synonymous with a number of events related to the Opera which are organised on the island of Gozo and welcomed by the many opera enthusiasts.

On Saturday, the 14th of October, the classical Opera “Madama Butterfly” by Puccini will be presented in the Aurora Opera Theatre.

Then on the 26th and 28th of October, in the Astra Opera Theatre will be staged, Verdi’s distinguished Opera with three acts, “Rigoletto,” the first opera of Verdi’s famous trilogy which also includes “Il Trovatore” and “La Traviata.”

The Minister stated that in Gozo you will find two theatres that stage operas with soloists from abroad at least once a year. “This is an exceptional opportunity for Gozitan talent, so that Gozitan artists can be part of a high calibre production and work with international artists who come specially to Gozo for these productions.”

He said that October in Gozo has become an annual event in the international calendar of classical music and many of those who love the opera choose to visit Gozo at this time of the year particularly for these events.

“We want to encourage this quality tourism that continues to raise the level of our island,” added Minister Camilleri.

Apart from the operas, there will be concerts, exhibitions and workshops among the various activities held during this month for all those interested.

The Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri concluded by inviting everyone to participate in the programme prepared by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage within the Ministry.
