The 125th anniversary of the Victory Philharmonic Society of Xaghra, and Mro. Joseph Galea’s conclusion of his tenure as musical director of the Victory Band, is to be marked by a commemorative event.

The Society said that “this celebration will show our gratitude and appreciation to Mro. Joseph Galea, who will be conducting for the last time as musical director of the Victory Band, after serving in this position for the last thirty years.”

He will be passing on the leadership of the Victory Band to his successor Mro. Marvin Grech.

The Society congratulated Mro. Marvin Grech, in his appointment as Musical Director of the Victory Band and wished him every success within the Victory Philharmonic Society.

The commemorative concert event is taking place on Sunday, the 29th of October at the Xaghra Basilica, starting at 8pm.

The Victory Band will be under the direction of Mro. Joseph Galea and Mro. Marvin Grech, together with soloists and the Kor Voci Angeliche, under the direction of Grace Vella Refalo.
