318 traffic accidents reported in Gozo during third quarter

There were 318 reported traffic accidents in Gozo during the third quarter of this year, up by 19 or 6.4% on 2022, the National Statistics Office said today. There were no fatalities.
Of the 318 accidents, 271 were reported as non-injury road traffic accidents, an increase of 9 or 3.4% on 2022. There were 47 reported with injuries involved, up by 10 or 27.0%.
Victoria recorded the highest number of accidents with 105, this was followed by Xewkija with 46, Ghajnsielem 31, while Xaghra recorded 29.
Also in Gozo – Fontana, Kercem and San Lawrenz all registered less than five road traffic accidents.
On a national basis, during the third quarter of 2023, there was one road traffic fatality, involving a male.
Road traffic accidents during the same period increased by 7.1% and casualties decreased by 4.9% when compared to the same period in 2022.
The highest number of road traffic accidents occurred on Mondays with 692 cases or 15.9% of the total.
San Pawl il-Bahar registered the highest number of road traffic accidents at 254 cases.
