Roadworks are to be carried out on the airport ring road in the next few days. Malta International Airport advised that these works will be executed in two phases.
The first phase of the project will commence on the 13th of November, necessitating the closure of the tunnel on Il-Karwija Road, which generally serves as the main entryway to Malta International Airport.
During this first phase, Malta International Airport said that it will only be accessible through Vjal l-Avjazzjoni. Drivers travelling from Hal Luqa towards the airport are advised to stay on the outer lane of the road leading to Hal Far (as indicated in green on the map and the photo).
Upon reaching the temporary traffic lights, which will be in place while these works are ongoing, drivers must turn to the right to enter the Malta International Airport ring road, the airport said.
During the first phase, the airport said that its main car park will not be accessible through the main entryway. Alternative access routes are marked on the map shown with a green dotted line.
The airport exit will not be affected during the first phase.
Malta International Airport apologised for any inconvenience caused by these temporary arrangements.
Updates on the status of this project will be communicated through the airport’s Facebook page and website www.maltairport.com
