Latest National Statistics Office latest data show that there were 61 people registering for work in Gozo during October, this was down 3 on the same month last year and down from 71 in September.

Of the 61 seeking employment, there were 43 males and 18 females. Last year the breakdown was 40 males and 24 females.

The highest age group seeking employment in Gozo were those aged 45 and over, with 25 looking for work – 13 males and 6 females. This was followed by the 30-44 age group, with 19 looking for work – 13 males and 6 females.

On a national level, the NSO said that the number of registered unemployed in September decreased by 25 persons over October 2022 levels.

Males accounted for 69.2% of total registrants while females accounted for the remaining 30.8%.

The NSO also noted that decreases were recorded in the 20-24 and 30-44 age groups.

The number of registered persons with a disability increased by 21 persons over the same period in 2022.

The NSO said that clerical support jobs were the most common occupations sought by the registered unemployed.
