Mgr Dr Edgar Vella, curator of the Mdina Cathedral Museum and an expert on the Crib, will be giving a lecture on – The Evolution and Cult of the Baroque Neapolitan Crib – at Il-Hagar Museum in Gozo.

Fr Edgar was instrumental in introducing in Malta the Neapolitan Crib with a series of exhibitions and even published ‘An Eighteenth century Neapolitan Crib in Malta.’

He is the secretary for the Commission for Catholic Cultural Heritage, responsible for all restoration projects carried out locally, and Fr Edgar published his doctoral thesis as ‘Treasures of Faith.’

A passionate art collector and connoisseur, Mgr Vella often contributes to local and foreign publications.

The lecture will be delivered on Saturday, the 2nd of December at 11am. Seat reservations are recommended to events@heartofgozo.org.mt.

This will be the ideal introduction to the series of seasonal events, including exhibitions, lectures and concertinos at the museum which is located in St George’s Square, Victoria.

It is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm, with no entrance fee.
