As from tomorrow, Monday, the 4th of December, around 25,000 private and self-employed workers who work atypical hours will start receiving a €150 cheque by post at home.

The Government said on Sunday that “workers and self-employed in the private sector who work in shifts, at weekends or after six in the evening and whose income does not exceed €20,000 per year will benefit from this.

This measure which was introduced in the 2022 Budget. “This cheque is given to both full-time workers and to part-time workers if it is their primary employment.”

The eligible sectors in this scheme are Accommodation and Food Services; Administrative and Support Services; Manufacturing; Transport and Storage; and Wholesale and Retail.

The beneficiaries must have been working with the same enterprise for at least six months during the year 2022.
