83 vehicles were stopped during Transport Malta and Police roadside inspections carried out in Malta, resulting in 17 contraventions being issued.
These included two vehicles with foreign plates which were impounded due to severe violations.
Transport Malta conducted a comprehensive roadside inspection during the festive season in St Paul’s Bay, in collaboration with the Malta Police Force.
Jonathan Borg, CEO of Transport Malta, thanked Enforcement Officers for their work during the festive season and emphasised the efficacy and importance of these roadside inspections.
He stated that, “ensuring road safety remains our top priority. These roadside inspections are critical in maintaining the integrity of our road network and safeguarding the well-being of all road users. By conducting targeted operations, we aim to enforce traffic regulations and create a safer environment for everyone.”
Transport Malta said that it carries out this enforcement work regularly throughout the year, but increases its efforts during the festive season.
“The ultimate purpose of these inspections is to create awareness so that we have safer roads for the benefit of all,” it said.
