At the Margins – is the title of a public talk and book launch by Dr Michael Refalo, covering children, petty criminals, suicides and others in 19th century Malta and beyond.
Il-Hagar Museum in Gozo will be hosting this first public talk for 2024 on Saturday, the 3rd of February at 11am.
Dr Refalo has become very well known for his research, publishing much interesting information sourced from unusual documents.
He is now presenting “At the Margins” in which he delves into tragic and unsavoury aspects of nineteenth century social history, concentrating on what is often ignored.
Dr Refalo highlights particular incidents, thus studying minutiae of daily life on the peripheries of our islands.
These pages prove that there is much to find in genealogical manuscripts, throwing useful light on our past – not less Gozo’s.
Seat reservations for this lecture and book launch are recommended to events@heartofgozo.org.mt.
Il-Hagar is located in St George’s Square, Victoria, and open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm, there is no entrance fee.
