The stories covered in this weeks issue are:
1. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech recently led a diocesan pilgrimage to the Fatima Sanctuary in Portugal and Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The pilgrimage consisted of 141 people. At Fatima, Mgr Grech said Mass at the Chapel of the Apparition and led a procession of the Holy Eucharist. He also celebrated Mass at Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, where the remains of St James are venerated.
2. The Aurora Theatre is busy preparing for the upcoming blockbuster opera production of Aïda, on Saturday. Conductor and Choir Master Colin Attard has now finalised his musical rehearsals with the Aurora Opera Chorus and awaits artistic director Novella Tabili to go on stage for rehearsals. The major cast, which includes Franco Farina from the Met Opera of New York and the Elena Zelenskaya from the Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow, joined forces with a 75-strong chorus plus an additional 75 supernumeraries.
3. A group of volunteers, including children between 5 and 15 years of age, who held an activity at the M?arr Terminal, collected €1,452 in aid of Puttinu Cares, the organisation that help and support children with cancer. This amount was gathered by the selling of books and gifts at the terminal, as well as from a lottery at the marshalling area, which had three prizes.
4. The Gozo Youth Wind Band presented What a Musical Evening, a concert part of the End-of-Summer Concerts organised by the Gozo Cultural Council. The evening featured medleys from West End and Broadway musicals. The concert held at the Oratory Don Bosco Theatre, in Victoria, was under the Musical Direction of Mro Joseph Grech.
