In January, the annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Price Index (RPI) was 3.2%, down from 3.6% in December 2023.

The latest data from the National Statistics Office show that the largest upward impact on annual inflation was measured in the Food Index (+1.95 percentage points), this was largely due to the higher price of vegetables, it said.

The largest downward impact was recorded in the Transport and Communication Index (-0.35 percentage points), mainly reflecting the lower prices of mobile phone services.

The 12-month moving average rate for January stood at 4.8%.
