A 48-year old motorcyclist from Fontana was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Monday afternoon.

Police said that the accident happened at around 1.15pm in Mgarr Road, Ghajnsielem, when a Volkswagen being driven by a 33-year-old Albanian man from Munxar was involved in a collision with a Suzuki motorbike being ridden by the man from Fontana.

The motorcyclist was given first assistance by a medical team at the scene before being taken to the Gozo General Hospital where he was later certified as suffering from serious injuries.

A Magisterial Inquiry was appointed into the case.

Police investigations are ongoing.
